Food Pop: Ellina Restaurant Aspen, CO- Italian with Emphasis on Local Ingredients
by The Lipgloss Culture Coterie

If you are up for fine food after a day of skiing the slopes in Aspen, Colorado, Ellina is located just two blocks from the Silver Queen Gondola. The restaurant features a Northern Italian inspired menu, a tasty bar selection, lounge music, and wine from all over the world.
Ellina’s wine list is known for its Italian and California wines. The restaurant was awarded the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence in 2010, and offers 8-10 wines by the glass at all times.
While the menu is a bit pricy, it’s well worth the excellent food, service and exquisite presentation of every item.
The restaurant attracts foodies and wine drinkers of all ages. The younger 20’s to 30’s crowd starts trickling in around 8:30pm.
Ellina is closed every May and October while the chef, Miguel Diaz, reinvents the menu for the new season.
Must Try:
- BBQ baby back ribs with polenta from the bar menu
- Ahi and crab terrine appetizer
- Organic French cut breast of chicken main course
- Shitaki mushroom polenta and caramelized turnips side dishes
If you must have desert:
Affogato – a house-made caramelized gelato served in a martini glass, with a shot of espresso poured on top
